STILL PLENTY OF ROOM LEFT IN THE RACE!  COME ON DOWN TO LOVELAND CANOE & KAYAK ON SAT. MORNING TO REGISTER.

It has come to our attention that there is another race in Loveland that is marketing itself using the legendary Loveland Frogman.  This has caused quite a bit of confusion to the athlete community.  The people running the other race did not ask our permission nor consult with us about their event.  We are in no way affiliated with them or their event.

The LOVELAND FROGMAN is the one and only FROGMAN race.

THE LOVELAND FROGMAN is the only adventure race in Loveland.  Our race is running, biking and canoeing with a little bit of fun at the end.  The Loveland Frogman is chip timed and is a real challenge.  It is not some gimmicky event - WE ARE A RACE!

Have you heard the legend of the Loveland Frog? Periodically, over the past 50 years, a strange creature has been sighted around and about Loveland. The creature vaguely resembles a frog but is the size of a large child and is manlike in behavior. Nobody has gotten close as the creature always disappears into the Little Miami before anybody can get close.

Don't believe in the Loveland Frog? Google "loveland frog" and decide for yourself.

In the summer of 2007, The Loveland Frogman will be two times the fun.  The first Frogman will be on June 24.  The second Frogman will be part of the Small Stacks Festival and will be on September 8.  Do one or both!

The Frogman is an adventure race that is not to tough for the novice but plenty challenging for those that want to push themselves. Starting with a 5K run, participants then will do a 5K Ride & Tie and then canoe back to Loveland Canoe & Kayak where they do an obstacle course before staggering to the finish line.

Open to 30 individuals and 125 teams of two, the Loveland Frogman promises to be a great adventure. Just watch out for the real frogman!

FROGMAN RULES

1. Event limited to 30 individuals and 100 teams.

2. Individuals shall complete the race without assistance from outside sources.

3. Teams are limited to 2 individuals.

4. Teams must start and finish the race together, finish time will be determined when the entire team crosses the finish line.

5. The Frogman will start with a 5K run. All participants will start together.

6.  The end of the 5K is on Cones Road, through Downtown Loveland. Between Broadway and Cones Road there will be walkers, bikers, dogs, kids, cats, gerbils, unicorns and whatever on the trail.  Competitors who are rude or in any way interfere with users of the bike trail will be penalized 5 minutes per infraction. Consider this the first obstacle course.

7. The 5K run will finish at the canoe/bike transition.  Athletes will then mount their mountain bikes to start the Ride & Tie.  A helmet must be worn by every athlete while riding a bike.  Each athlete MUST ride the bike twice.  Mountain or cyclocross bikes are strongly recommended as there are off roadl portions. Individuals will complete the bike course without assistance and will not do the ride and tie. Teams will do a "Ride and Tie". This means that teammembers use 1 bike between the two of them and leapfrog through the course. For example, Teammate 1 starts on the bike and rides for 1/4 mile and then drops the bike and starts running. Teammate 2 starts running and when he gets to the bike he climbs on and rides, passing Teammate 1. At some point after passing Teammate 1, Teammate 2 drops off the bike and starts running. When Teammate 1 gets to the bike he climbs on and continues riding. Teammates leapfrog to the finish line. At least one swap must be made between teammates.  Both teammates must finish the Ride and Tie together.

INDIVIDUALS DO NOT DO THE RIDE & TIE AND WILL DO A 10K MTN. BIKE!

8. At the conclusion of the bike teams and individuals will start the canoe/kayak portion.  Teams will be given a canoe and both team members must be in the canoe.  Individuals will be given a kayak.  Personal flotation devices must be properly fitted and worn at all times the participant is in or on the water. Athletes will not be allowed to start until the personal flotation device is correctly worn.
The finish of the canoe portion will be at Loveland Canoe & Kayak. Athletes will be required to carry the boat from the water and rack it where indicated.

9. After completing the Ride and Tie, individuals will kayak to the obstacle course.  Teams will canoe to the obstacle course.  The obstacle course is adjacent to the finish line.

10. Both members of the team must finish the race and cross the finish line together.
