Tucson Racing Inc. uses the IPICO Sports Timing System for all its races and is available to time your race using the latest in chip timing technology.
The IPICO Sports data capture system is very simple and is light years ahead of other competing systems in terms or accuracy, ease of use and affordability. The Sportag, or chip, issued to each athlete contains a microchip and two antenna loops. One loop to "wake up" the tag and the other to send its signal. When the Sportag, worn on the shoe for running races, on the ankle for triathlons or adventure races and on the bike frame for bike races, comes within range of the antenna mat at the finish line, it wakes up and starts sending its unique signal again and again to the reader, which stores the data it receives from the Sportag and communicates it to the finish line computer. Once at the finish line computer, the event planner has a number of options. Tucson Racing's turnkey timing and tracking solutions not only collects and manages results but can also instantly communicate detailed results to spectators, media and the athletes themselves. Race announcers have immediate access to the names of athletes crossing the finish line, final times, up to the minute team standings and other athlete information. Event Directors, with Tucson Racing's timing systems can deliver a more enjoyable experience for athletes, spectators and media.

IPICO Sports Chip Timing System offers a number of advantages over conventional chip systems. The IPICO system can read in high moisture environments (rain, high humidity, athletes sweating, etc.), can read at a far greater distance than other chip technologies, can read higher volumes of tags simultaneoulsy and, most importantly, offers a near 100% read rate - no matter the conditions and no matter the number of athletes - to ensure accurate results. The system has been used to time 50,000+ runners at Bolder Boulder, 25000 runners at the Nike Mexico City Run, 10000+ runners at the Cincinnati Turkey Trot and numerous other smaller events throughout the United States. It is proven technology that works for running races, adventure races and triathlons. Tucson Racing is available to time running races, adventure races, open water swims and triathlons. Bicycle race timing will not be available until the summer of 2008. Please call Jonathan Grinder at 928-607-6737 or email jhgrinder@gmail.com for more information about chip timing your event.
